The 14th BJIFF-ReelFocus Project officially launches its call for entries in October 2023

About ReelFocus

ReelFocus is a video creation support program initiated by BOSS Direct for universities and young filmmakers at home and abroad, including a short film competition unit and a short film investment unit for students. The program is dedicated to building an open platform for the exchange of film talents, broadening employment channels for young filmmakers, and helping young creators become professional filmmakers.

This year's ReelFocus will set up a creation support fund and prize money of about 2 million RMB to support the creation of new film and television creators, mainly students. It is planned to invite 20 well-known domestic film and television companies to participate in the screening and viewing, and to build a communication platform for universities and film and television companies. Negotiate with the platform for cooperation and development, and provide distribution channels for outstanding works. At the same time, the Program was officially incorporated into the main competition of the BJIFF, providing more help and support for young filmmakers in a new capacity.

The Program is divided into two main sections:

1) Venture Competition Section: Containing short feature films and short documentaries (10 minutes to 40 minutes in length). The quality of the works is the criterion for selecting the best pitch works, and each selected filmmaker will receive a certain amount of filming funds to be used for the production of the pitch film.

(2) Competition Section: Short feature films and short documentaries (10 minutes to 40 minutes in length). The Competition Section is open to films created after April 1, 2023 only. Awards and prizes will be given to creators who are selected as outstanding works and outstanding creators.
