After the victory of the War of Resistance, there is a farmer girl named Huang Shaohua living along the shore of the Yellow River. In her village, she is loved by two men, Wei Shougen and Tian Shantang. The two of them fight vigorously against each other. Huang Shaohua has no choice but to disguise herself as a boy and leave her home town. Later on, she falls in love with the commander of an army scout named Zhao Jingsong. However, during one of the battles, Huang Shaohua is hurt and goes into a vegetative state and is sent home. Wei Shougen and Tian Shantang then keep watch over Huang Shaohua. After she regains consciousness, Huang Shaohua devotes herself to the development of her hometown while she keeps looking for her lover Zhao Jingsong. After hearing about his death during the Korean War, she takes in Zhao Jingsong’s son from his hometown and raises him.
