During the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty, young girl Yingluo enters the Forbidden City to become a maid with a secret purpose to find out the truth about her sister’s death. Empress Fucha takes Yingluo under her wings and influences her to gradually drop the hatred to find inner peace. At Fucha’s deathbed, Yingluo promises to fulfill her wish to help the Emperor Qianlong after she’s gone. At first, Yingluo and Qianlong do not see eye to eye, but gradually she helps solve problems in the empire with incredible courage, intelligence and kindness, eventually becoming an important role in the prosperity of Qianlong Period. After Yingluo’s death, Qianlong confers the title of Crown Prince to her son and Yingluo the title of Empress Xiaoyi.
